3M™ 983 Diamond Grade™ Microprismatic Reflective Tape (successor to the discontinued 3M 973) is top-tier reflective material used in fleet, safety, and municipal applications. Microprismatic diamond-grade technology delivers high-intensity reflectivity at incident angles exceeding 50°.

Specifications

• Construction: Microprismatic retroreflective sheeting
• Typical thickness: 14–18 mil (0.014–0.018 in). 3M lists this as a typical physical property, not a specification value
• Adhesive: Highly aggressive pressure-sensitive
• Application surface: Painted or unpainted flat metal without rivets
• Mounting: Horizontal mounting for optimal reflectivity
• Note: 3M 973 has been discontinued; 983 is the direct replacement
